Three Museums under one roof in the former townhal of the beautiful village of Vledder in the Netherlands. In addition to the Fake Art there are also collections of modern Glass Art and northern Dutch Art. The fake art section is the largest and also the most funny: the "Night Watch" and the "Mona Lisa" are hanging here unsupervised together in one room. You are welcome to sit on of the two "Rietveld Chairs", or touch "The Thinker" by Rodin. Furthermore, a remarkable collection of fake art of master forgers Han van Meegeren and Geert Jan Jansen.
Is it real or fake? That question is constantly when wandering between the false art. It all started with a beautiful Matisse, what turned out to be a beautiful copy of a detail of an original. To recognize a fake, you have to come from good pedigree. Good counterfeiters know exactly how to imitate ancient pigments and also the works are 'carefully' outdated. During the free tours entertaining expert guides tell all of it with a wink.
The collection of modern glass art focuses on European art from after 1945 and is on display next to the fake art in its own exhibition space. The collection focuses on works from the Netherlands, France, Italy, Poland and the Scandinavian countries.
The collection Northern Dutch art is in the museum library, with i.a. paintings of: Roessingh, Jannes de Vries, Jan Sunday, Reinhart Dozy and Eugène Charmon (pseudonym of Jan Worst) Stengelin, Torie, Wiegers.
In addition to the permanent collections, there are three times annually changing exhibitions of contemporary glass art and northern Dutch painting in its own exhibition space Museums Vledder.
